Position 

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled Research Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in leading the operational and administrative elements of Dr. Basyouny's research program, supporting over a dozen highly qualified research personnel as well as managing the preparation and submission of grants, funding applications, project reports, and other written documentation for a large-scale Urban Traffic Safety program.   

This role works closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, government agencies, and community stakeholders with the ultimate goal of improving traffic safety, influencing policy, and making transportation more effective for all.  If you desire to make a true impact on our community, we want to hear from you.

Duties 

The Research Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operational and administrative areas of a large research program, including:

1) Coordinating and writing a large research funding bid, including working with multi-disciplinary research team members, and government and community stakeholders, including:

a. Supporting team members as they develop and articulate the research aims, scope and objectives for a large-scale, multimillion dollar, Urban Traffic Safety program

b. Coordinating the research proposal materials and transposing them into a coherent, compelling, written grant application

c. Liaise with all stakeholders including government departments and community groups

d. Ensure that all steps in the grant writing process have been followed in a timely manner

e. Liaise with the grant-awarding body

f. Coordinating research meetings during the development process

2) Set up project processes to ensure a smooth transition to operational status:

a. Ensure that stakeholder requirements are met

b. Create and implement the tools and processes needed to meet the project’s objectives and deliverables

c. Set up internal reporting processes (develop templates, set proposed internal deadlines based on external requirements)

d. Work within a team environment that encompasses multidisciplinary partners (internal and external)

e. Work with University communications teams to develop external communications strategies

3) Supporting Dr. Basyouny’s research activities, which are not relevant to the Urban Traffic Safety program, by providing grant, bid and proposal writing support

4) Provide editing and writing support for academic papers being prepared for publication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Familiarity with academic research processes and grant application procedures
  • Experience with the development and submission of large-scale funding applications is an asset
