Working for the Department

International Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment of international students to the University of Alberta. International students have a vast range of study options to choose from and many institutions actively trying to recruit them.

The international recruitment team offers potential international students an exceptional experience when they are deciding where to study and convinces qualified students that the U of A is the right choice for them.

Position 

The International Recruitment & Relations Coordinator is responsible for recruiting qualified international student to the University of Alberta from Africa. The Coordinator will offer potential students an outstanding level of customer service throughout their journey to the U of A.

The coordinator will design and implement a recruitment plan for student recruitment from Africa. They will attend targeted events in select countries in Africa to represent the University of Alberta and help students move through the recruitment process and become registered students at the U of A. They will help students and their families make the life-changing decision of where they will study and support the University of Alberta to meet its recruitment goals.

Duties 

  • Plans and implements strategies for recruitment of international students which will include representing the University of Alberta at international education or college fairs, visits to individual schools and other relationship-building activities
  • Meets registered student recruitment targets for region as per the International Recruitment Work Plan and country plans
  • Provides an outstanding level of customer service to potential students and stakeholders
  • Works with selected agents that recruit students on behalf of U of A in selected markets, providing training remotely and/or on-site, assisting with the application process for students recruited by these agents, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree required
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a cross-cultural setting
  • Experience in recruitment, public relations, promotion, communications, and/or event planning
  • Public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness and ability to travel on a regular basis to Africa

Preferred Qualifications

  • University of Alberta degree preferred
  • Knowledge of U of A's undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Knowledge of general and specific admission requirements for the Alberta system and major international education systems is an asset
  • Experience using Peoplesoft, Tableau, and Alfresco systems Advanced CRM skills, Slate, preferred
  • Fluency in French
