This part-time position has an end date of March 31, 2025. Scheduling is based on availability.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton and South Campus Edmonton.

Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics is the varsity department for the University of Alberta, and falls under the Dean of Students portfolio. Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics is one of Canada’s premier intercollegiate programs. The U of A competes in the Canada West conference, which resides under the U SPORTS national body, and is home to 24 teams and over 475 student-athletes. The U of A competes in the sports of Basketball, Cross-Country, Curling, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling. Position 

Athletics is currently seeking energetic, customer service oriented, team members to join our event crew for the 2024-25 conference season and playoffs. Roles include ticket selling, event ushering/security, and alcohol/merchandise sales at U of A basketball, football, hockey, rugby, soccer and volleyball games. Shifts are typically scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the course of the season (September - March). All roles are crucial to ensuring an exciting atmosphere at our events for both the benefit of our student-athletes and our fans.

Duties 

  • Assist with the set up and tear down of the venue for each event
  • Cover a variety of operations positions including:
    • Digital ticket sales through TicketMaster
    • Manage cash and card transactions for ticket, alcohol, and merchandise sales
    • Secure venue access points, ensuring that patrons have the correct ticket to enter and do not exit the venue with alcohol
    • Cover sport specific roles (ex. scorekeeping, penalty box, goal judging, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid ProServe Certificate (those age 18 and over)
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
  • Available to work 3-4 shifts per month
  • Good customer service skills
  • Manage details easily
  • Communicate with customers and fellow staff clearly and professionally
  • Able to solve problems in an efficient and effective way

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Have experience handling cash
  • Can handle large crowds effectively and proficiently
  • Familiar with Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics teams and events
  • Have experience at events where alcohol is sold

Compensation

  • $15.00/hour + 4% vacation pay + 3.46% stat pay + 1.5% premium pay*

*premium pay for current full-time U of A students only
