Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at Enterprise Square.

Working as Manager, Data Delivery

The Manager, Data Delivery, is considered a senior managerial role, who will oversee the creation of data architecture and modeling projects for the university, managing these projects from inception to implementation to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and reliability of data in support of the university’s strategic goals.

This managerial role requires exceptional leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and motivate teams toward achieving organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strategic vision, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. They will possess the skills to mentor and develop team members, drive innovation, and lead by example with integrity and accountability. Effective communication and decision-making abilities are crucial, as is the aptitude to navigate and manage change within a dynamic organizational landscape. Additionally, the Manager will design and create custom data products to inform proposals, recommendations, reports, and decisions, particularly those related to confidential labor relations activities. This position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels while guiding their team to achieve exceptional data solutions and drive strategic decision-making.

This role involves managing data projects from inception to implementation, ensuring the accuracy, relevance, and reliability of data to support the university’s strategic goals. The Manager will design and create custom data products to inform proposals, recommendations, reports, and decisions, particularly those related to confidential labor relations activities.

Duties 

Project Management:

  • Conduct regular analysis to identify threats and opportunities.
  • Develop innovative solutions to data and analysis problems.
  • Convert theories into practical strategies and manage resources effectively.
  • Navigate roadblocks and ensure successful project launches.
  • Transfer project custody to the Data Support Manager.

Team Development:

  • Attract and retain in-demand talent.
  • Identify and cultivate team members' talents.
  • Build a strong succession plan and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster an inclusive and innovative work environment.

Innovation:

  • Stay updated on advances in data science and technology.
  • Approach problem-solving creatively.
  • Test experimental solutions through prototyping.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain data warehouse standards and process models.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of data.
  • Write and modify programs to meet customer requirements.
  • Create comprehensive data warehouse systems and supporting documentation.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Support the Director in executing the unit’s communication strategy.
  • Manage stakeholder communication and engagement.
  • Facilitate status reports and presentations for senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics (Graduate degree preferred).

Experience:

  • 7-10 years in data storage, computation, and flow manipulation.
  • 3-5 years in a people management role is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of computer systems, statistics, and mathematics.
  • Familiarity with design techniques and processes.
  • Reading comprehension, programming, complex problem-solving, systems analysis, and evaluation.
  • Critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
  • Accurately comprehend, analyze, and synthesize written material, identifying key details and connections.
  • Translate requirements into executable instructions, involving programming languages, problem-solving, algorithmic thinking, and debugging.
  • Analyze intricate issues, identify relevant factors, and develop effective solutions for multifaceted challenges.
  • Assess and optimize systems, processes, and technologies to align with university objectives, recommending improvements.
  • Utilize inductive reasoning to derive principles from observations, and deductive reasoning to apply principles to specific scenarios.
  • Information ordering: Organize and arrange data, tasks, or processes logically and coherently.
  • Critical thinking: Analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information thoughtfully, questioning assumptions and considering multiple perspectives.
  • Judgment and decision making: Assess situations, weigh options, and make sound, informed choices considering both short- and long-term strategies
