Location Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square, Jasper Avenue Downtown, Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

Working for the Department

The goal of Information Services is to provide exceptional Advancement systems support, business process management and design, automated reporting solutions and data delivery for the Development and Alumni offices within External Relations. Information Services supports the strategic planning and operational effectiveness of all alumni relations functions as well as key fundraising programs including the annual fund, major gift and planned giving, alumni engagement programs, prospect management and research as well as major fundraising campaigns.

Position 

Reporting to the Manager of Information Services in Development and Alumni Relations, the Business Analyst is responsible for the initiation, management, and completion of all business process and systems projects, including issue analysis, requirements gathering, project scoping, solution design, testing, and project documentation as they relate to the University's fundraising efforts and the applicable CRM system.

Duties 

  • Understands core business processes supported by Development and Alumni Relations tools, identifying opportunities to enhance integration between business units and improve information-sharing capabilities.
  • Participates in ongoing analysis of existing business processes to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Develops recommendations to optimize CRM system functionality, enhance data integrity, and improve the efficiency of service delivery.
  • Engages in functional analysis during system upgrades, enhancement projects, and change requests.
  • Prepares test scenarios for user acceptance testing, organizes test data, schedules testers, coordinates completion of testing documents, and participates in issue resolution. Ensures final sign-off from testers.
  • Conducts initial investigations into business processes or data issues, documents findings comprehensively, and proposes resolutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree; equivalent combination of education and at least 3 years experience will be considered
  • Experience working in a fundraising environment
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Experience working with a CRM system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain focus under pressure and meet strict deadlines for work completion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Citation in Business Analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying FOIPP
