This is a 1-year contract position.

Location - Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square on Jasper Avenue, Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

Position 

Are you a passionate and experienced professional in talent management? Are you adept at fostering organizational culture, driving engagement, and implementing effective recognition programs and strategies, with robust experience in talent acquisition?

As a Consultant, Talent Management, you will play a pivotal role in working with our Human Resource Partners and client groups to develop and implement programs and strategies that attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance, project management and insights on a number of functional areas within the Talent Management Center of Expertise. These functional areas may include organizational culture, engagement, recognition, and talent acquisition strategy. You will have the ability to work on a variety of projects as the strategic priorities shift and evolve. Reporting to the Director, Organizational Development and Talent Management, the Consultant, Talent Management is a key member of our Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Environment (HRHSE) team as a subject matter expert within the Talent Management Centre of Expertise (CoE). This position is eligible to apply for the Work from Home Program, which allows for flexibility in a hybrid in-office and at-home work environment.

Duties

  • Focus on driving results from the Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment (HRHSE) Strategic plan.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and programs in talent acquisition strategies and act as a subject matter expert to support the Executive Search process and procedure and support other Talent Acquisition needs, eg. sourcing, candidate experience and employer branding program.
  • Act as a talent acquisition strategies subject matter expert to ensure support and collaboration in working across HRHSE and with other partners across the university, particularly in Shared Services.
  • Drive a diversity-first approach, ensuring historically underrepresented or marginalized equity-deserving groups are appropriately represented in the Talent Management projects and strategies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of hiring managers and campus collaborators.
  • Support university governance work through process optimization and policy work specific to the Talent Management CoE.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies across the CoE within engagement, culture and performance, and succession as needed.
  • Lead, participate and collaborate in committees and working groups of peers on HRHSE-related initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 -7 years of progressive experience in human resources management or a related field.
  • Dedication to expanding and growing in the field of Talent Management within the University of Alberta.
  • A highly motivated, creative, passionate, resilient, and proactive approach to work.
  • A desire to play a functional lead role in developing and mentoring staff for the purposes of development.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and familiarization of HR trends and best practices.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
