The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is recruiting for a Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering, who will be nominated for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair. The successful candidate should have a well-established research program in one of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Applications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Construction Engineering.

The Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) were established by the Canadian Government to foster research excellence (http://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/). Tier 1 Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable once, are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields. The successful candidate must have a documented, outstanding record of research, and should lead an internationally-recognized research program that is aligned with the University of Alberta’s Strategic Plan. Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field. They must either hold the rank of full professor, or hold the rank of associate professor and expect to be promoted to full professor within one or two years of the nomination date.
