This competition may be used to fill two positions, one in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) and one in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS).

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) combines the strength of all our health sciences faculties and schools, enabling a new level of interdisciplinary health science research and teaching that advances the full spectrum of human health and wellness in individuals and communities worldwide. Position

The Coordinator, Awards and Events has two main areas of responsibility.  The coordinator directly supports the nomination, evaluation, and selection process for various research and education awards by working closely with faculty members and related nomination committees to prepare competitive nominations.

The Coordinator is also responsible for planning and implementing events that maintain and strengthen the relationship between the faculties, alumni, external partners (e.g. community organizations, government, agencies) and the College, and enhance the reputation of the College, faculties and the University related to strategic priorities of the College and faculties.

Duties

Assist in the review, edit, and evaluation of nominations to selected awards based on the established criteria and experience with previous nominations. Develop resource materials to support high-quality nominations. May provide advice/information to researchers, faculty, and staff as they apply for awards. Must be aware of each application’s opportunities, the criteria, the deadlines, the approval and submission requirements. Reviews award nominations for completeness and accuracy and advise nominators on errors and provide feedback Coordinates all details associated with event planning, including developing unique concepts to engage a variety of event attendees, promotion preparation and execution of various events for the Office of Research and the respective College.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two-year Diploma (Business, Administration, etc.), with an undergraduate degree preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • 2-3 years of progressive administrative experience.
  • Experience working in an academic environment, familiarity with research environment. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to adhere to critical deadlines. 
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism with a high level of discretion and the capability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience within a University environment and a demonstrated understanding of University policies FOIPP and UAPPOL is an asset.
