This position has a term length of 6 months from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension.

Working for the School of Dentistry Satellite Dental Clinic 

This position is in-person and is located in La Crete, Alberta

The School of Dentistry Satellite Dental Clinic plays a vital role in delivering oral health care services to the La Crete, Alberta community. Our dedicated team of instructor-led students provides treatment the academic school year. 

Position 

We are currently seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Patient Services Coordinator, providing essential administrative and clerical support to the La Crete Satellite Dental Clinic.

We're seeking a professional with a can-do attitude, offering a unique opportunity for learning and skill utilization in administration, customer service, and attention to detail.

As the first point of contact for all patients, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless patient experience. This involves managing a high volume of patients, handling inquiries via phone and in-person, scheduling appointments, and processing payments and insurance submissions related to dental treatment.

Working hours are up to 40 hours per week.

Duties 

Reception/Administrative Duties:

  • Be the friendly face and first point of contact for the clinic, handling inquiries from patients, staff, and residents.
  • Learn and manage patient data entry, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the organization and filing of Medical History and Consent forms.
  • Handle incoming phone calls, register patients, and assist with admissions.
  • Gain hands-on experience in scheduling various appointment types and managing patient charts.
  • Support the preparation of reports summarizing patient appointments. 

Accounting/Financial Duties:

  • Receive training to assist with accurate procedure code entry into the Dental Management System for billing purposes.
  • Learn to collect, enter, and maintain dental insurance information in patient files.
  • Gain exposure to processing payments via cheque, POS debit, and credit cards.
  • Work alongside experienced team members to confirm financial arrangements with patients.
  • Learn the ropes of completing insurance forms and managing accounts receivables
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of all dental materials/instrumentation/equipment to ensure adequate supplies for clinical operations

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Two years’ experience in a fast-paced office environment is an asset
  • Basic Dental Terminology and billing code knowledge is an asset
  • Dental experience a strong asset – dental assistant, dental receptionist, etc.
