This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Position & Duties

The Faculty of Education invites applications for one or more part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following course in the Winter 2025 term. This course will be taught face-to-face, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach on campus.

EDPY 303 - Educational Assessment

This course will introduce students to the complexity of classroom assessment as a means of supporting and measuring student learning. The intent of this course is to develop an understanding of important concepts and issues in the evaluation of a learner's knowledge and skills, and to develop competence in constructing instruments and processes to evaluate learner performance. 

We are looking for instructors for the following specific sections:

  • Monday and Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 12:50 PM, 2025/01/06 to 2025/03/07
  • Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 AM to 12:50 PM, 2025/01/06 to 2025/03/07

Minimum Qualifications

  • The successful applicant has a BA or equivalent (minimum), with preference for a graduate level degree in Education, or leadership experience in the subject area at the K-12 level in a school district.
  • A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • A commitment to the University’s Indigenous initiatives, and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusivity. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms such as Canvas, Moodle, etc.
