Working for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a Centre of Excellence in education, research and clinical care in women's health. The department has five academic divisions, 19 full-time academic faculty members, and over 100 clinical academic colleagues in general obstetrics and gynecology. Our faculty members encompass the full range of academic medicine including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Gynecological Oncology, Reproductive Sciences and Urogynecology.

Position
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of OBGYN, in partnership with Alberta Health Services(AHS), Edmonton Zone, Women’s Health, is inviting internal applications for an Academic Medicine and Health Service Program (AMHSP) Academic Position for an Undergraduate Medical Education Assistant Coordinator. We are recruiting a clinician educator to support undergraduate medical education and the northern medical school expansion. OBGYN is a core part of the medical school training providing education in pre-clinical Repro block, 3rd year core clinical clerkship, surgery 556 selective in 4th year, and electives. Currently, we have 1 UME coordinator who will require support with the new expansion and growth of the medical school class.
Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on the income scale of the six-step Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP). Further details about this innovative funding plan are available on request.
Duties
- The UME assistant coordinator will support the curriculum development and scheduling, assessment (including OSCEs), orientation, lectures and small group learning, and the education coordinators at the hospital teaching sites (RAH, GNH, MCH, SCH, Fort McMurray, and Grande Prairie).
- The UME assistant coordinator will also help lead the Grande Prairie Medical School Northern expansion.
- This position will actively participate in medical education and/or research
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates for this position must already hold a position in the Edmonton zone in the department of OBGYN and in Women's Health.
- Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. The positions will allow up to 0.5 FTE for medical education or research; the remaining FTE will be clinical services with AHS.

- Preference will be given to physicians with previous interest in and/or additional medical education and/or research training.
