Description
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor rank Tenure track position in the area of Adapted Sport/Parasport. The scholarship may be approached from a range of underlying disciplines (e.g. motor learning, physiology, biomechanics, behavioural medicine, coaching studies, psychology). This position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative and robust externally-funded research program, teach both graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and provide service to the Faculty and the University, as well as to professional and external communities. The successful candidate will have the capacity to teach courses in our graduate programs and our Kinesiology undergraduate degrees within the adapted physical activity major and in other area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate will have excellent potential to engage with The Steadward Centre, furthering its research, teaching and outreach mandate. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching capacity and research programs that extend and complement current adapted physical activity expertise and serve instructional needs in the Faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD in Kinesiology or related discipline at the start date of their appointment.

Faculty Context
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation is consistently ranked in the top 20 faculties of its type worldwide (QS World University Rankings). It is home to approximately 1400 undergraduate students and 130 graduate students. In addition to its 4 undergraduate degree programs, the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation also offers Masters degrees, a suite of graduate certificates, and a world-class PhD program. The Faculty is also home to The Steadward Center, providing leadership in Adapted Physical Activity and Parasport development, annually serving more than 1000 children and adults experiencing disability and training more than 250 students. As part of the Faculty, the Centre’s strong research and education focus allow it to deliver innovative programs and to share proven expertise with community fitness and sport leaders across Alberta and beyond.
