In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $64,206 to $107,006.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

Position Summary
The University of Alberta is currently seeking to hire for the role of Indigenous Strategies Manager. Reporting to the Vice-Provost (Indigenous Programming and Research), the Indigenous Strategies Manager (ISM) is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives emerging from Braiding Past, Present, and Future: University of AlbertaIndigenous Strategic Plan and liaising with other units at the University on their own initiatives under the plan.
Responsibilities:
- Under the leadership of the Vice-Provost, coordinates project planning and implementation for specific initiatives under Braiding Past, Present, and Future: University of Alberta Indigenous Strategic Plan.
- Develops a list of all relevant stakeholders for initiatives and designs and implements comprehensive consultation plans to ensure appropriate engagement with stakeholders.
- Plans and executes approval processes for initiatives, in consultation with University Governance.
- With direction from the Vice-Provost, plans and tracks implementation of strategic initiatives under BraidingPast, Present, and Future: University of Alberta Indigenous Strategic Plan.
- Works with the Office of External Relations to communicate outcomes of the Braiding Past, Present, and Future: University of Alberta Indigenous Strategic Plan initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops and tracks measures of success for Braiding Past, Present, and Future: University of Alberta Indigenous Strategic Plan and for specific initiatives within the plan. Monitors and recommends adjustments to measures as appropriate.
- Where issues arise that affect the work of the Vice-Provost, the ISM will provide strategic advice on the impact of those issues, especially as they pertain to strategic initiatives in the portfolio. The ISM will be a critical component of the team that works to resolve and respond to issues.
To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Master's degree at a minimum. A PhD is a valuable asset to this position. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered
- Extensive knowledge of Indigenous communities in Alberta and familiarity with Indigenous cultures, traditions, and knowledge
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent data analysis and data presentation skills
- Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills
- Relationship-building experiences with international and external stakeholders
- Awareness of internal and external data sources relevant to the post-secondary sector
- Project management skills
- Meeting and event organization skills
- The ISM will be capable of performing independently and in a team environment as required
