Position
This position focuses on the development of a clinical tool known as BackSCNR for screening and monitoring scoliosis (spinal deformity) using surface topography. BackSCNR is a web-based analysis tool that uses a surface model of a participant™s torso, acquired from an iPad, to investigate torso asymmetry. The asymmetry measures are then used in an artificial intelligence (AI) model to screen for scoliosis that is previously undiagnosed (screen positive or negative) or to evaluate the severity of a known scoliosis patient curve (prediction of Cobb angle). The screen model can be applied in community or school settings, while the severity (and progression) models can be applied in clinical settings. The successful candidate will work with an inter-disciplinary team to lead the product development.
