The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for an academic tenure-track position within the Division of Pediatric Respiratory in the Department of Pediatrics. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canada’s first and largest province-wide, fully integrated health system, responsible for delivering health services to the over four million people living in Alberta as well as to some residents of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is a full-service pediatric hospital and centre for complex pediatric care and research. It is the only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children and youth in central and northern Alberta. It has among the highest inpatient volumes of any children’s hospital in Canada and serves a geographical area of over 500,000 km. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is the Western Canada pediatric lung transplant centre, accepting referrals from Manitoba through to BC.
Responsibilities
This position is a full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising of approximately 50% time for clinical service and 50% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
The successful applicant will join seven academic pediatric respirologists providing a full spectrum of clinical respiratory medicine services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a fully accredited Pediatric Respirology subspecialty training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a pediatric sleep subspecialty training program. There are numerous trainees (undergraduate and postgraduate students, residents and clinical/research fellows) that rotate through the Division each academic year. The division also has an active basic and clinical science research program, collaborating locally, nationally, and internationally.
This position consists of a clinical and academic focus providing a full spectrum of clinical respiratory medicine services including complex asthma, cystic fibrosis, environmental respiratory health, sleep medicine, home ventilation, and lung transplantation. The division participates in multiple multidisciplinary clinics serving children with neuromuscular, aerodigestive, sickle cell and other complex diseases, as well as a multidisciplinary team approach to children receiving complex therapies such as tracheostomies or bone marrow transplants.

Qualifications
Interested applicants must have:
- MD degree (or equivalent)
- Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and subspecialty residency in Pediatric Respirology
- Must be certified or eligible to become a fellow in Pediatric Respirology of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (See the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for more information on various routes of credentialing https://www.royalcollege.ca/en/eligibility-and-exams/exam-eligibility.
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
Considered an asset:
- Additional training in sleep medicine and/or recent experience caring for pediatric patients with sleep disorders
- Experience and/or interest in providing rural and remote outreach, virtual care pathways and innovative approaches to patient care
- Advanced research training or history of publishing and acquiring funding for research
Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
