The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for an academic position within the Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).

This position is a full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising of approximately 50% time for clinical service and 50% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable). This role would provide support to existing inpatient and outpatient services with a focus in Pediatric Epilepsy and electroencephalography.

The successful applicant will join twelve academic pediatric Neurologists providing a full spectrum of clinical services. Clinical Responsibilities include:

  • Pediatric Neurology inpatient and outpatient clinical services, including but not limited to Inpatient consultation and follow-up (General service, Neuro-Critical Care Service), General and subspecialty outpatient clinics, as well as the On-Call schedule.
  • Pediatric Neurology EEG

In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels and engaged in research in several areas of expertise. We have an active basic and clinical science program, collaborating locally, nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

Interested applicants must have:

  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Neurology
  • Additional training in Pediatric Epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Certified in EEG interpretation
  • Advanced research training as evidenced by a graduate degree or significant publications and record of funding
  • Must be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. See the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for more information on various routes of credentialing (https://www.royalcollege.ca/en/eligibility-and-exams/exam-eligibility)
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.

Academic members of the Department of Pediatrics are eligible to become members of the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) which supports research excellence dedicated to improving the health of children and women. WCHRI is a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding support from the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Women's Health Foundation.
