This opportunity is open only to current Faculty members of the Faculty of Science of the University of Alberta. Recent hires with start dates of no later than May 1st, 2025, will be considered. The Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) were established by the Canadian Government to foster research excellence (https://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/home-accueil-eng.aspx). Tier 1 Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable once, are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields.

Position Eligibility:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an area of Glycomics in Science and be full professors or associate professors who expect to be promoted to full professor within one or two years of the nomination date. The successful candidate must have a documented, outstanding research record, leading an internationally-recognized research program that is aligned with the University of Alberta’s Strategic Plan (https://www.ualberta.ca/research-innovation/media-library/misc/ualberta-srp-2019-191129.pdf). They should demonstrate an excellent record of publications in reputable, high-quality, high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and conferences. They should provide evidence of established teaching and trainee mentoring skills. They should have a demonstrated record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels. Ideally they should also have a record in participating or leading large-scale, potentially interdisciplinary, research initiatives.
