Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for the Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers students the opportunity to pursue an exceptional, high-quality education in one of Canada's largest mechanical engineering departments.
Our 1,325 students (1000 undergraduate and 325 graduate) learn in a thriving and dynamic environment emphasizing solid academics and sound hands-on skills. We offer traditional and co-op undergraduate programs (including a biomedical co-op option), as well as Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and PhD graduate programs.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Researcher, the Research Administrative Assistant (RAA) will provide diversified administrative support. This position will be working on various Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Alberta Innovates projects related to energy and energy-related technologies.
Duties
- Provide and analyze monthly financial reports
- Reconcile and manage research grant accounts, ensuring all guidelines are adhered to
- Prepare travel arrangements for the researcher and other project stakeholders
- Initiate new appointments, time sheets, payroll changes, and terminations for casual staff, graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows
- Manage the Researcher’s calendar and schedule / coordinate appointments with staff, students, and industry partners
- Drafting of correspondence, including but not limited to: meeting agendas, reports, letters, research proposals, manuscripts, and presentations
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc in natural sciences and engineering
- Minimum one-year experience in office administration
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite applications
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks with accuracy and precision
- Experience in proofreading and copy editing
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft applications (HCM and Financials)
- Knowledge of the University of Alberta policies and procedures
- Experience with bookkeeping
