This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Working for the Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute

The Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta (CRINA) and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) are multi-faculty, interdisciplinary research and training institutes. The institutes foster collaboration among scientists, physicians and trainees, and are catalysts for research and innovation.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, NMHI and CRINA, the staff member will provide support to the institutes. This position is split equally between the two institutes.

Duties 

  • Meeting support - Schedule meetings, prepare and distribute agendas and supporting materials, take meeting minutes, follow up on meeting deliverables in a timely manner
  • Event Planning - Manage Institute events including seminar series, workshops, town halls, retreats and public events
  • Grant Competition Support - Manage internal grant and award competitions
  • Communications - Update and maintain the Institute website and social media accounts. Prepare weekly newsletters.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree
  • Advanced software and computer skills
  • Proficiency with both Microsoft and Google applications
  • Experienced with content management systems and social media platforms
  • Committed to professionalism
  • Exhibits strong time management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Prioritizes tasks based on need and time availability
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
  • Proactive problem-solver who looks to find innovative solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy in a detailed and varied workload
  • Ability to appropriately field inquiries from the public and Institute members
  • Basic design skills using Canva and/or Adobe platforms
