This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences

The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in the area of statistics. The anticipated start date of the position is July 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed.

The initial appointment will be for one to three years, depending on qualifications and experience, and is renewable subject to performance and budgetary considerations. After nine years of continuous employment, the position may be converted to career status with no end date. The position will focus on undergraduate teaching in Statistics, with an opportunity for course development and teaching higher-level courses. We provide an excellent teaching environment and plan to grow course offerings in Statistics over the next several years.

The minimum requirements are a master’s degree in statistics or mathematics, the ability to teach introductory statistics courses, and demonstrated accomplishments and outstanding promise in undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD degree in statistics (or a closely related field).
