Description

This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

This position has an initial appointment of 4 months. The salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff Agreement.

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for Media and Technology Studies

Media and Technology Studies at the University of Alberta has offered a degree program in Media Studies at the undergraduate level since 2019. Our faculty members are actively involved in a wide range of media research with a strong focus on media theory, media cultures and industries, and media-related research methods.

Position

Media and Technology Studies at the University of Alberta invites applications for a term Lecturer in Media Studies with teaching responsibilities for one course in the Media Studies undergraduate major. The required load is one course in the Fall term 2025.

Duties

The Lecturer will be expected to teach one section of the following course:

  • MST 200 Media Theory (Fall term; 3 hours/week instructional time, in-person; class schedule: Tuesdays/Thursdays 09:30-10:50)

Qualifications

  • Applicants should hold a PhD or be all-but-dissertation (ABD) in Media and Communication Studies or a related field. We will also consider applicants with a terminal MA in Media and Communication Studies or related area with related post-secondary teaching experience.
  • We are particularly interested in candidates with a degree in Media and Communications with some prior teaching experience, especially involving international students.
