Working for the Infrastructure Planning, Development and Partnerships (IPDP)

Through strategic planning and partnerships, the Infrastructure Planning, Development and Partnerships (IPDP) team improves the viability and utility of our physical infrastructure to support the university’s mission. Among other services, IPDP brings ideas to life on how to best leverage our physical assets — from strategic planning and real estate services through to space planning, design and construction.

Position Summary

The U of A manages 1.5 million square meters of space spread across 480 buildings

In response to budget constraints and the need to maximize the effectiveness of all assets and resources, this position plays a vital role in advancing the university’s strategic goals. It is responsible for supporting the purposeful, integrated management of physical space and assets to support institutional priorities.

This position is essential to maintaining the integrity of the university’s space data. As the institution’s space requirements continually evolve, the position ensures that data remains current and reliable, supporting informed decision-making and enabling the successful delivery of key projects and initiatives.

Duties 

  • Provides analytical support to the Infrastructure Planning Development & Partnerships (IPDP) department.
  • Member of the Space Management and Stewardship (SPS) team working closely with space planners, Strategic Infrastructure Planning, and Campus Architecture.
  • Will work closely with the data analytics team from the Asset Information & Analysis (AIA) unit. May attend some AIA unit and team meetings for effective integration.
  • Prepares and analyzes data for the purpose of benchmarking, space budgets, space/full cost analyses, current and future state reports, predictive modelling, and other key performance indicating methods, in conjunction with, and under the guidance of SPS space planners and IPDP leaders.
  • Prepares briefings, reports, summaries and presentations to communicate data analysis results.
  • Updates, tracks and maintains space data inventory as the basis for space analytics, modelling and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, or a Bachelor's Degree in Business, or a related field, with relevant work experience in architecture, planning and design. Experience in business intelligence and analytics is preferred.
  • Experience in the following software, or equivalent, is required: AutoCad, Tableau and Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, and CAFM systems, such as AssetWorks’ AIM, and Blue Cielo Meridian.
  • Experience and understanding of the following, or equivalent, space programming, COU standards, benchmarking, space quantification and formulation, and optimization analysis.
  • Must be curious, proactive, responsive, and value clear communication, transparency and collaboration.
