Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Working for the Department of Medicine
The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta with over 250 academic faculty members and over 400 trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and residents). The Department of Medicine's core mission is to undertake outstanding education, research and high-quality clinical care to provide the best possible health outcomes for Albertans. Position and Duties
The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position specializing in digital health in healthy aging. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Puneeta Tandon and Dr. Ashley Hyde from the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing, respectively. The team focuses on advancing personalized, digital health interventions to support healthy aging and improve outcomes for individuals with chronic disease.
The lab’s work spans frailty assessment, digital implementation science, behavior change, and multidisciplinary care, with close collaborations across rehabilitation sciences, nutrition, nursing, engineering, and data science.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the team’s innovative digital health platform for healthy aging and chronic disease management – a personalized system designed to assess and support older adults through integrated, data-driven programming.
You’ll be joining a collaborative, high-impact lab with access to strong mentorship, clinical partnerships, and real-world implementation studies already underway. This role offers hands-on experience with digital health interventions.

Minimum Qualifications
- PhD (within the past 3 years) in data science, health informatics, rehabilitation sciences, public health, or a related field
- Proficiency in data wrangling, visualization, and statistical analysis using R, Python, Tableau, or similar tools
- Experience using REDCap for data capture, survey design, and workflow tracking
- Demonstrated experience in digital health research, including usability testing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent scientific writing skills, with a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Effective time management skills while managing multiple research projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in movement science, biomechanics, or nutrition
- Experience working with wearable data (e.g., step count, sleep, heart rate)
- Familiarity with mobile health platforms or dashboard development
- Familiarity with qualitative methods
- Interest in real-world implementation and patient-centered innovation
