Position Summary

Working as a dynamic member of the Office of Alumni Relations, this position deepens relationships with alumni by curating a lineup of opportunities for U of A grads to share their time and talents in ways that make an impact on campus and in the broader community.
Reporting to the Manager of Alumni Programs, this position helps manage hundreds of volunteers who give their time to work on projects, including alumni supporting student mental health, mentorship, on campus events and community service projects. This position also equips our volunteers with appropriate training and resources and ensures they feel appreciated via various recognition initiatives.
Duties
- Creates relationships with campus partners, Alumni Relations staff and community non-profit groups to explore opportunities to involve alumni volunteers
- Recruits and builds relationships with over 750 volunteers per year and determines appropriate placements
- Develops operational policies, training opportunities, and recognition programs to support volunteers in their roles
- Works with Marketing and Communications staff to develop campaigns for print, e-mail, social media and web to promote the volunteer program
- Continually evaluates the program to make ongoing improvements
- Develops procedures for tracking volunteer experiences and reports on progress towards volunteerism goals
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum 3 years of volunteer management experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to interact effectively with varied audiences, strong interpersonal skills and ability to use sound judgment and tact
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Adaptable, agile and technologically savvy; advanced capability with MS Office suite and Google Applications
- Experience using Galaxy Digital or other volunteer management databases
- Knowledge of the University of Alberta
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft
- Valid driver’s license
