Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics is the varsity department for the University of Alberta, and falls within the Dean of Students portfolio.
Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics is one of Canada’s premier intercollegiate programs. The UofA competes in the Canada West conference, which resides under the U SPORTS national body. We are home to 22 teams and over 500 student athletes. We compete in the sports of basketball, cross-country, curling, football, gold, ice hockey, rugby, soccer, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling. It is our vision to be recognized locally, nationally and internationally as a leader in the pursuit and achievement of excellence in sport.
Position
University of Alberta Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics is currently seeking qualified applicants to join the A-Team Promotions unit – our most vocal, visible and diehard fans and activation team. The A-Team is responsible for conducting and executing in-game and on-campus promotions as well as working on various strategies to improve ticket sales and campus engagement throughout the 2025-26 Athletics season. The A-Team is a vital component of the success of Golden Bears and Pandas Athletic Events. Being a member of the A-Team requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm, and it is essential that members remain in these roles for the entirety of the academic year. Members will be required to work between 25-40 hours per month (~8-10 hours per week) from late August to April (flexibility available).
Duties
- Be a visible and engaged supporter of Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics in front of audiences.
- Execute on-campus promotions strategies during the week that engage with the UA student body and educate them about Golden Bears and Pandas games.
- Execute activities on Game Day that engage the crowd and elevate the fan experience at Golden Bears and Pandas football, hockey, rugby, volleyball and basketball home games.
- Execute sponsorship commitments on Game Day including giveaways, contests, photo ops, and more.
- Assist with creating and posting content for various social media platforms.
- Perform in the mascot suits when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Must be available weekends, evenings, and some weekday hours.
- Must be able to commit to the position for the entire academic year.
- Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- An outgoing personality with a sincere passion for sports and the ability to display and sell that passion effectively.
- Ability to work in a time sensitive, team-oriented environment.
- Strong initiative, highly dedicated, and a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to lift upwards of 30 lbs.
