Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus and South Campus, Edmonton.

Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics is the varsity department for the University of Alberta, and falls within the Dean of Students portfolio.

Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics is one of Canada’s premier intercollegiate programs. The UofA competes in the Canada West conference, which resides under the U SPORTS national body. We are home to 22 teams and over 500 student athletes. We compete in the sports of basketball, cross-country, curling, football, gold, ice hockey, rugby, soccer, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling. It is our vision to be recognized locally, nationally and internationally as a leader in the pursuit and achievement of excellence in sport.

Position

Athletics is currently seeking energetic, customer service oriented, team members to join our Event Staff crew for the 2025-26 conference season and playoffs. Roles include ticket selling, event ushering/security, and alcohol/merchandise sales at U of A basketball, football, hockey, rugby, soccer and volleyball games. Shifts are typically scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the course of the season (late August - March). All roles are crucial to ensuring an exciting atmosphere at our events for both the benefit of our student-athletes and our fans.

Duties

  • Assist with the set up and tear down of the venue for each event.
  • Cover a variety of operational positions including:
    • digital ticket sales through Ticketmaster.
    • manage cash and card transactions for ticket, alcohol and merchandise sales.
    • secure venue access points, ensuring patrons have the correct ticket to enter and do not leave the venue with alcohol.
    • cover sport specific roles as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid ProServe Certificate (for those age 18+) is required.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Available to work minimum 3 shifts/month.
  • Experience working in customer service and handling sales transactions.
  • Experience working at events where alcohol is sold.
  • Experience managing large crowds effectively.
  • Familiar with Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics teams and events.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
