Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Working for the Steadward Centre

Our Steadward Centre team is working together to support the quality participation of adults, youth, and children experiencing disability in meaningful physical activity, para sport, and recreation activities. As a non-profit centre, within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) at the University of Alberta, our focus on research and education allow us to deliver innovative programs and share knowledge and expertise with community recreation and physical activity leaders across Alberta.

Position Summary

This position will provide administrative support for the Friends of The Steadward Centre Society, an organization that supports The Steadward Centre through advocacy and fundraising initiatives. Additionally, members of the Friends of contribute to the following TSC committees: Management Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee, and Education Advisory Committee.

This position will be hired through TSC and the successful candidate will report to TSC Director.

This new part-time position will provide administrative support to the Friends of The Steadward Centre Society, working directly with the Chair of the board and with the Director of The Steadward Centre. This support will be instrumental in helping the Friends of TSC Society advocate for and generate support for TSC programming, by offering much needed administrative support. With some flexibility, this part-time, hybrid position will include some in-person and work from home tasks.  

Duties 

Examples of administrative duties may include:

  • Provide meeting support such as scheduling and booking meeting space (for in-person or online meetings) for regular board and committee meetings.
  • Assist with agenda preparation, recording minutes, and document organization.
  • Assist with information gathering related to Friends of TSC events and activities.
  • Assist with completing documents and scheduling volunteers for fundraising events such as casinos.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure accessibility of meetings and document preparation in an effort to further the mission of TSC and the Friends of TSC Society.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Computer proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of and experience using Google suite applications.
  • Effective organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards.
