This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day, with the possibility of extension, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remoe and in-peson work at North Campus Edmonton.

Working for the Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta with over 250 academic faculty members and over 400 trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and residents). The Department of Medicine's core mission is to undertake outstanding education, research and high-quality clinical care to provide the best possible health outcomes for Albertans. Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating a research trial of the utility of a clinical health dashboard, involving quantitative surveys and qualitative semi-structured interviews of men and women using the dashboard. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research coordination and data collection.

Duties 

  • Coordinate and manage the logistics of the research trial, including ethical and operational approvals, scheduling and organizing participant sessions.
  • Administer quantitative surveys and conduct post usage qualitative semi-structured interviews with participants.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection, entry, and management.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of research instruments and protocols.
  • Maintain clear and organized records of all research activities and participant interactions.
  • Collaborate with the research team in the analysis of data and prepare reports.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality of participant information.
  • Assists in maintenance of study database and records related to the study and ensures study documents are up to date.
  • Verifies data collected for completeness and accuracy and monitors for quality assurance.
  • Assists in writing reports derived from data collected.
  • Schedule meetings, appointments and making followup calls for the research project.
  • Create and update spreadsheets and database for tracking participants.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. A degree in neuroscience, psychology, computing science, biomedical engineering, or other health discipline is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a plus.
