Position Summary
The Experiential Education Coordinator (EEC) works both independently and within a team environment to manage the many detailed and complex tasks and projects required to successfully deliver the experiential rotations within the PharmD and PharmD for Practicing Pharmacists (PPP) programs. The Experiential Education Coordinator works under the general direction of the Team Lead, Student Services and the Director, Experiential Education, with a service orientation to Directors, Managers, course coordinators, instructors, site preceptors and students in the academic program.
Duties
Experiential Education Placement Administration and Assessment
- Develop and maintain accurate records for reporting and accreditation including report generation and dissemination to course coordinators
- Communicate with students regarding placements/rotations, CORE ELMS issues, registration, prerequisites for local and out-of-province placements etc.
- Assists course coordinators in identifying new preceptors and assigning students in CORE ELMS if a preceptor cancels or when multi-site coordinators require help with assigning students to preceptors
- Distribute, collect and review student evaluations and bring forward concerns
Administration and Support of Rotations, Courses and Programs
- Initiate and maintain positive working relationships with placement sites
- Liaise with the Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP) with respect to housing accommodations for students going to a rural or suburban setting
- Coordinate the preceptor awards process
- Facilitating orientations with Director, Experiential Education for first, second and fourth year PharmD students and PPP students ahead of matching
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required - a combination of education and experience would be considered.
- Minimum one year of related experience in student services or experiential education/Work in Learning (WIL) environment would be considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in the use of Campus Solutions, Slate and Google Suite.
- Proficient in using learning management in an efficient and effective way; training will be provided in using our database product, CORE ELMS
- Knowledge of the academic policies and procedures of the Faculty and the University of Alberta.
- Ability to manage, multi-task and prioritize large volumes of work with strict deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal).
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently and develop strategies to solve problems.Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
