Campus Operations and Services, under University Services Operations and Finance, supports the University of Alberta through a range of essential services and works for operating, maintaining and renewing infrastructure across our campuses.

Position Summary

The primary duties of the Records Technician is to support the activities and roles of UofA Operations team members. Assists in filing and retrieving documents, maintaining the electronic database, and maintaining the records retention schedule. Responsible for equipment operation and processing of materials, and/or documents.  This position will assist in the assembly of files and other information in response to FOIPP requests. There is significant interaction with various departments throughout the portfolio as well as external partners and stakeholders.

Duties 

  • Review and analyze documents and enter descriptive and other metadata into the information systems
  • Sort, classify, and code material for filing
  • Prepare new files referring to the file classification plan
  • Respond to specific requests by searching, locating, retrieving, and delivering records or information through established procedures in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate check-out procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a multi-faceted, fast-paced office environment
  • Prefer candidates with two plus years of work experience in the field of Records and Information Management
  • Must be able to lift standard record boxes weighing approximately 35 lbs.
  • Knowledge of the U of A campus, policies and procedures is an asset
