The University of Alberta (U of A), Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applicants to apply for a position of Assistant Clinical Professor within the Division of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. This position will be a full-time 1.0 FTE with AHS and a Clinical Academic Colleague (CAC) appointment with the U of A. This position will comprise approximately 70% clinical service (including clinical teaching) and 30% academic pursuits (negotiable).

Responsibilities

This adolescent medicine position will provide service as follows:

  • Adolescent medicine outpatient clinics including gender affirming care and support to youth with chronic health conditions;
  • Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) coverage at the Stollery Children’s Hospital (Pediatric Hospital Medicine).

The adolescent medicine position will provide service to adolescents with complex health and social issues. This position will be supported by experienced academic general pediatric colleagues, both ambulatory and in-hospital based. The Stollery Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics have well established programs for adolescents and transition within subspecialty programs that can provide support.

In addition to clinical care, the Division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including medical students, pediatric residents, among other trainees. The Division is home to active educational scholarship and research programs providing opportunities and mentorship for academic pursuits. The successful candidate will participate in clinical care, teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications

Interested applicants must hold an MD and must have completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric Adolescent Medicine, and be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric Adolescent Medicine Subspecialty). The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Advanced training or experience in clinical research would be an asset.
