This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $67,159 to $111,927.

Location - Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

Position 

The Consultant, Organizational Development plays an integral role in creating a dynamic learning environment that supports an institutional learning culture and lifelong employee learning and development. Reporting to the Director, Organizational Development, the Consultant, Organizational Development will apply their knowledge and experience in adult education and development theory and practice, and curriculum and instructional design methodology to design, develop, and facilitate and/or source exceptional learning experiences for employees to be delivered in a variety of learning modalities.

The Consultant, Organizational Development establishes credibility and trust with clients (employees, leaders, faculties/ departments, HR Partners) with a service excellence mindset. The Consultant, Organizational Development works independently on programs, projects and assignments guided by the unit strategic plan and objectives as well as HRHSE and Institutional strategies and goals and in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

The Consultant, Organizational Development is the specialized resource in the specific learning and leadership development profession or discipline. They are recognized as experts who apply theory, advanced concepts, principles, techniques, and methodology to work assignments, large scope projects, and program development.

Duties 

  • Develop curriculum, instructional design learning strategies, delivery methods, and training modalities to create and facilitate best practice learning and development programs and courses in a variety of learning modalities.
  • Identify and analyze learning and development needs through needs assessments, skill gap analyses, consultations, and focus groups.
  • Collaborate with HR Service Partners in conducting needs assessments to identify, recommend or create appropriate training programs and/or plans for individuals, teams and faculties/departments.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive evaluation and feedback processes for learning and development programs/courses, curriculum and facilitators to assess outcomes and impacts.
  • Identify barriers/challenges and implement continuous improvement strategies based on evaluations, feedback and best practices.
  • Develop the vision and capacity for the specific pillar.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in adult education or a related field required: additional related credentials/ certifications are an asset
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the field of learning, leadership and professional development or adult education.
  • Minimum 5 years Project Management experience
