About

Dr. Dawei Zhang is currently appointed as Professor in the Department of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Research

We study metabolism and human diseases that are linked to it, such as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, non-alcohol fatty liver disease, and arthritis. The ultimate goal is to identify novel proteins and pathways relevant to these diseases and then translate this knowledge to develop novel therapeutics with improved efficacy.

1) PCSK9-promoted LDLR degradation. 2)The role of membrane type-1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) in metabolism and human disease. 3)Surf4 and lipid metabolism.
