Overview
About
I am a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta. I have a Ph.D. in economics from Toulouse School of Economics, France. I previously held positions at Concordia University in Montreal and Iowa State University in Ames (USA). I have been a visiting fellow at Toulouse School of Economics, INRA in Grenoble, the Department of Economics in Rennes, and the Department of Economics in Pau, France.
I am the director of the University of Alberta Economists (UAE) Group, which is an umbrella organization for economists on campus. Events organized by economists on Campus can be found here.

Fields of Research: Industrial Organization, Applied Microeconomics, Agricultural Economics
My primary field of research is Industrial Organization, with research interests in Intellectual Property Rights, innovation, and problems related to agricultural markets. My research is concerned with the limits of patent protection and focuses on the strategic behaviour of innovators. I also have investigated the impact of regulation on research investments, the economic implications of litigation, and the welfare implications of changes in the patent system.

Analysis of structure and equilibrium of games. Applications to economic problems such as bargaining, auctions and collusion. Prerequisites: ECON 109, ECON 384 and 299 or equivalent.
