CIV E 676 - Behavior and Design of Masonry Structures
(Offered alternate years.) Historical developments. Masonry units, mortars and grouts. Behavior, strength and stability of masonry under axial compression. Reinforced masonry in bending and combined axial load and bending. Ductility and joint control. Design application including discussion of code requirements.
ENGG 130 - Engineering Mechanics
Equilibrium of planar systems. Analysis of statically determinate trusses and frames. Friction. Centroids and centres of gravity. Forces and moments in beams. Second moments of area. Note: Students in all sections of this course will write a common final examination. Corequisite: MATH 100.
