Research
My research focuses on the complex relationship between context (macro, meso, and micro-level context/environment) and quality of care, staff’s quality of work life, and the success of implementation and improvement initiatives in long-term care (LTC) homes. My work is dedicated to improving the lives of both residents and staff in LTC homes by fostering nurturing, person-centered communities through translating research evidence into real-world practices. I specialize in quantitative methods using advanced statistical models, and in mixed-methods approaches that integrate quantitative, qualitative, and configurational methods to address complex questions in health services and implementation research within the LTC sector.

The course provides a hands on approach to evidence-informed nursing practice. This includes formulating clinical questions, systematic searching of electronic databases, reading, interpreting and critically appraising health research. Emphasis is on developing thinking and information literacy skills necessary to be an astute research consumer, and using evidence to inform clinical decision making. Note: Available only to nursing students in the Collaborative/Honors Program, After Degree/After Degree Honors Program or RPN-BScN Program.
