About
Angela Lee is an assistant professor at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law. Lee completed her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and, later, her juris doctor at the University of British Columbia. She then enrolled in the LLM program with a concentration in global sustainability and environmental law at the University of Ottawa and was fast-tracked into the PhD program.
While at the U of O, she was appointed part-time professor and co-taught a seminar on food law. During the 2019–2020 academic year, she was a Schulich Fellow at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, where she taught contract and animal law. In 2020, she joined the inaugural team of faculty members at the since-renamed Toronto Metropolitan University’s Lincoln Alexander School of Law, where she was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Toronto Metropolitan University Law Review. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Ryerson Law Students’ Society Professor of the Year award (2020–2021) and an SSHRC doctoral fellowship (2019–2020).
A first-generation immigrant, Lee strongly believes in the importance of representation, including in the study and practice of law. She hopes that her presence in the Faculty will reduce the feelings of alienation that some similarly situated students may experience when entering law school and the legal profession.
