An advanced examination of philosophical questions concerning race, racism, and racial identity. Topics may include: the metaphysics and ontology of race; social construction versus biological realism; racial identity; intersectionality; systemic and structural racism; implicit bias and racial perception; racial justice and reparations; whiteness and white privilege; critical race theory; decolonization and epistemic injustice; and the relationship between race, class, and gender. Emphasis on developing advanced analytical skills through intensive reading, discussion, and original research.
