Analysis of personal narratives from the Canadian North and northern Scandinavia, with a focus on texts linking these regions. Narratives written from a variety of perspectives are read, including those of Indigenous peoples, explorers, professionals, adventurers and families. Texts which explore gender roles and gender myths in the North are also examined. Autobiographical theory is employed to analyze the texts. All lectures and readings are in English.
