Topics include the power of the media to create audiences for sport; the role of sport in the construction of local, regional, and national identities; the continental dimensions of professional sport; the place of sport in the negotiation of gender relations; the use of sport by the Canadian government; and the position of sport in an increasingly global economy and culture.
