Examines a variety of theoretical perspectives on language and literacy and explores their implications for work with children. Questions of language acquisition, the role of language in learning, the development of literacy, and sociocultural influences are explored. Prerequisite: Equivalent to 3 units in language arts education, or consent of Department.
