This course examines current theory and research on literary texts, their reading and teaching, and consider implications for classroom practice. Processes involved in reading literary texts, reader-response theories, and approaches for teaching, assessing, and researching are explored. The implications for the secondary school curriculum or trends and developments in literary theory are considered.
