Intended for students with no previous knowledge of the language and designed to develop basic skills: listening, reading, speaking, writing, and intercultural competence. Addresses either a given period or a particular facet of Francophone literary texts tied to three loosely connected themes that go back to the very origins of French as a language and continue to shape cultural expression. Prerequisite: FREN 297, FREN 298 or FREN 300 or consent of Department.
