Intended for students with no previous knowledge of the language and designed to develop basic skills: listening, reading, speaking, writing, and intercultural competence. Note: not to be taken by students with native or near native proficiency, or with Polish 30 or its equivalents in Canada and other countries.
Prerequisite: POLSH 111 or consent of Department. Note: not to be taken by students with native or near native proficiency, or with Polish 30 or its equivalents in Canada and other countries.
Intermediate grammar, composition, and oral practice based on selected texts of Polish classical and contemporary literature. Prerequisite: POLSH 112 or consent of Department. Note: not to be taken by students with credit in POLSH 201 or 202.
A continuation of POLSH 211, with greater emphasis on reading and composition. Prerequisite: POLSH 211. Note: not to be taken by students with credit in POLSH 202.
Films, short literary texts and journalistic prose serve as the basis for composition and discussion. Prerequisite: POLSH 212 or consent of Department.
Prerequisite: POLSH 303 or consent of Department.
Introduction to translation theories and practice as applied to Polish. Exercises in translation of minimal textual units (written and oral) with emphasis on nonliterary texts. Prerequisite: POLSH 212 or consent of Department. Note: Formerly POLSH 441. Not open to students with credit in POLSH 441.
