Classroom seminar to develop skills required to carry out and present original research. Students will design and propose a research project, normally to be completed in Research Seminar 2.

ANTHR 320 - Anthropology of Religion

3 units (fi 6)(EITHER, 3-0-0)

Survey of anthropological approaches to religions and related phenomena including magic, taboo, shamanism and witchcraft. Emphasis on the connection between religious ideas and practices and other aspects of social life in a variety of cultures. Prerequisite: ANTHR 207 (or ANTHE 207) or consent of Department.

ANTHR 498 - Research Seminar 2

3 units (fi 6)(SECOND, 0-3S-0)

Completing a research paper or Honors Thesis under a faculty member's supervision. Prerequisite: ANTHR 497.
