HLTH 500 - Foundations of AI and Health: Contemporary Topics

This foundational course introduces students to the core concepts of AI and health data, enabling them to examine a range of AI applications in modern healthcare settings, from medical image analysis to risk prediction. Students will examine how AI technologies - such as machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing - are applied in real-world health systems. Students will be introduced to Indigenous ethical frameworks and principles of data sovereignty to address challenges, such as algorithmic bias and data imbalance. Students will explore key implementation processes including collaboration, training, and performance evaluation.
