This course covers the fundamentals of nuclear and radiochemistry. Topics include: subatomic particles, radioactive decay (natural, alpha, beta, and gamma), the liquid drop model of the nucleus, fission, applications in radiochemistry and radiopharmacy, applications of radioactive isotopes in physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. Prerequisites: CHEM 263, at least one 300-level chemistry course and fourth-year standing.
